Open House and Workshops Are Success

These are exciting times as local elected leaders work with other state and county government bodies for the purpose of revitalizing the Natural Bridge corridor.  As a member of the Stakeholders Advisory Board, I have been attending meetings discussing the development and re-design of Natural Bridge Road, from Lucas and Hunt to West Drive (at end of UMSL).  The long range plan will include Natural Bridge Road, from Lucas and Hunt to I-170.  Our committee meets on the second Monday of each month to discuss road design and adjacent land use in this corridor.  Although these meetings are not intended to take public comment, as they are workshops, discussing conceptual ideas to present to the public, I am very interested in hearing from you now so your ideas can be shared in this initial concept phase.

The advisory board is comprised of representatives from CM2H (lead consulting firm),  East West Gateway Council, MODOT, North County Inc., UMSL, State Sen. Wayne Goode, City of Normandy (Mayor), City of Pasadena Hills (Mayor), Village of Bellerive (Chairperson), and Village of Bel-Nor (Chairperson), City of Bel-Ridge (Mayor) and the Normandy School District.  The design of the Mayors and Chairpersons serving on the advisory committee is to initiate a dialog with their residents and sharing those viewpoints with the committee. 

The committee has conducted one-on-one interviews with local business owners and residents during this initial phase of concept development, too.  All local residents and business owners are invited to a public meeting, engaging the community in larger, public comment venue.  The first Open House held on March 4, 2010 was a great success.  If you were unable to attend, the advisory board is still very interersted in your comments.  I encourage you to e-mail them to me at City Hall, Mayor McLaughlin's E-Mail .  I will share your  comments with the advisory board as I receive them.

2010 CENSUS - Be Counted! What is the Census?   The U.S. Census counts every resident in the United States, and is required by the Constitution to take place every 10 years.  The 2010 Census will help communities receive more than $400 billion in federal funds each year for things like:  Hospitals, Job Training Centers, Schools, Senior Centers, Bridges, Tunnels and Other-Public Works Projects, Emergency Services The data collected by the census also help determine the number of seats your state has in the U.S. House of Representatives.

In March of 2010, census forms will be delivered to every residence in the United States and Puerto Rico. When you receive yours, just answer the 10 short questions and then mail the form back in the postage-paid envelope provided. The Census Bureau will protect the confidentiality of your information, and your specific answers are not shared with the City of Pasadena Hills.  Title 13 of the U.S. Code protects the confidentiality of all your information. In addition, other federal laws, including the Confidential Statistical Efficiency Act and the Privacy Act reinforce these protections. Private information is never published.   Since your participation in the census will directly affect the amount of federal funds that are allocated to our community, we encourage all residents to fill out the census forms accurately and completely.    If you want to learn more about the census, please call 1-800-923-8282, or visit http://www.census.gov/

HAITI FUNDRAISER HEADED BY LOCAL AREA ELECTED OFFICIALS

Mayor Jim McLaughlin and Alderman Kris Boevingloh joined other elected officials from neighboring municipalities in January in an effort to assist the Red Cross relief in Haiti.  The City would like to encourage Residents to Support Haitian Relief Efforts ... the relief effort is very important to millions of people in Haiti.  "No matter how big or how small your donation is, it can make a big difference in someones life." - Mayor McLaughlin

H1N1 VACCINE OFFERED FREE OF CHARGE

The Saint Louis County Department of Health is offering H1N1 vaccine to county residents free of charge at the North Central Community Health Center, 4000 Jennings Station Road in Pine Lawn, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, except Thursday when the H1N1 clinic is open from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
